Episode 2: Scion tC "This Side Up"

Welcome again, dear reader, to the blog where I discuss "new" cars of World, and this time I'm going to talk about why you really should save your SpeedBoost on the Scion tC "This Side Up".

First of all, it's no secret that this car was released as an April Fools joke, although the humour in this is a bit weird if not twisted. Moving on!

1. The price
First point, and things are looking bad already. 3,900 SpeedBoost. 3,900? Double that, and it costs more than the LFA "Spring Hare" (which is not a good buy either, as I've already explained here). Screams overpriced, and nothing in or on this car justifies it. What do I get for that price? Let's have a look:
  • A unique livery
...which is just plain ugly. I know, April Fools joke, and it looks ugly deliberately, but seriously... Deep green base, some carbon fibre imitation, some stickerbombing here and there, and of course, the cardboard part. Hideous.
  • Aftermarket parts
A Verge wide bodykit (which is on every special edition tC), a Glint CF spoiler, Work rims, and the standard black tint and level 3 lowering kit. There's also the unique "APR1L-1" license plate, making sure that the point gets across to everyone.
  • Performance parts
Some mixed 2-star ones,G-G-G-R-R-R combination, which I have no clue if it's good or not.
  • Skill mods
The usual SB car set, 14-14% Super Shot, 19-19% Extended NOS, and a 9% Socialite.
  • The car itself and the slot
2. The performance
Now, as I've never driven it before, I bought the IGC one to get to know the car itself a bit. It's boring. It really is. Its acceleration is weak, its top speed is low, and although the handling is pretty decent and responsive, the whole car is just weak and slow, although I only tried it as bone stock, but I'm quite sure that it doesn't improve all that much with parts installed on it.

3. Why shouldn't you get it?
Just like with the LFA: it's currently available for IGC. If you have a free car slot, 550,000 cash, and want a weak and boring car so badly, then just get the IGC version.
But what about the looks?
Ugly, that's what. Sure, it might be funny for some people, but let's face it: the car doesn't have very dashing looks. As for replicating it, I'm pretty sure it can be done without problems, provided that you have the Renner vinyl pack for the text on the side.
And I'm pretty sure you want that written there anyway...

But what about the skill mods?
Well... they don't really matter all that much for a car of this caliber. Sure, they're nice, but not all that important.
But what about the AM parts?
The Verge wide bodykit can be found on both the Juggernaut Scions, so if you wanted to get a tC with a special bodykit on it, you've probably already bought the Red Juggernaut when it was on sale 2 weeks ago. For less than half the price of this. Or just bought it for your IGC edition. Cost: 630 SB.
A Glint CF spoiler - that'd set you back 800 SB.
Work Style A 18" wheels - I believe those can be won from lucky draws, (correct me if I'm wrong though), and it would cost you 220 SB.
A black tint - drops from lucky draws, otherwise costs 400 SB.
A level 3 lowering kit - drops from lucky draws fairly often, costs 800 SB otherwise.
The unique plate - this time, it really is unique, but there are other yellow plates from previous top-up offers or AM packs if you're thinking about replicating.
All things considered - if you want a visually decked out tC, you already have the Red Juggernaut, which only cost you 1,560 SB a few weeks ago.
But what about the performance parts?
Only some 2-star parts, so nothing special, you probably already have a bunch of those either from various events or Treasure Hunts, which drops these like crazy. Also, they make the tC into class B, where it's not competitive at all (in other words, it gets completely destroyed). But then again, it's not competitive in its stock class C either (in other words, it's easily beaten up). So if anything, the pre-installed parts only set this car back.

To wrap this up, if you want to get yourself a slow traffic car, just get the IGC one, and keep far, far away from this overpriced, awful-looking... thing. If you want the looks - replicate it yourself, I'm fairly sure it can be done easily.

-BF out.
